St Mary's, Cottingham has welcomed a new Rector. Helen Bristow, Churchwarden, writes;

"The weather may have been dismal, but it couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm and sheer joy felt by the people of St Mary’s as we formally welcomed our new Rector, Revd Dr Nicola Bown, at a Collation and Induction service conducted by Bishop Alison. Only thirty people were able to attend the service itself because of the Coronavirus restrictions, but they were able to enjoy an almost normal, pre-pandemic experience.

"The bells rang, the organ played, there were candles on the altar and a beautiful flower display. And, in addition to those lucky enough to be inside the church, a dozen or so gathered outside to applaud our new Rector and Bishop Alison as they emerged at the end of the service. As we stood around in the churchyard after the service greeting one another (in the socially distanced way that has become almost second nature) there was a wonderfully cheerful and positive atmosphere."
