The Diocese of York is pleased to announce its inaugural Diocesan Safeguarding Week; investing in our parish workforce in order to build greater understanding and improve confidence in safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults across the Diocese of York will be key the focus of a week of events from the 22nd to the 26th November 2021.

Our aim will be to encourage greater partnership working and therefore support effective safeguarding practice in our parishes. Themes across the week will include:

  • Children and young people’s safeguarding
  • Adult safeguarding
  • Victim Voice
  • Mental Health
  • How to guides to managing safeguarding in your parish

Organised by the Diocesan Safeguarding Team, with help and assistance from our valued partners, we plan to create opportunities to think about safeguarding in its widest sense.

With a mix of online interactive learning event and webinars, we plan not only for there to be opportunities for new learning but a legacy of good practice resources.

The safeguarding team would like to hear from parishes if there are any particular areas within the five themes above which you would find useful to include.

If you would like to suggest an area of information or practice within the above, then please click here to complete an online survey.

  • Thank you for working with us on this important initiative.
