Cerrie's Story

Hey I'm Cerrie and I live in Eastfield in Scarborough with my 12 (going on 16 lol) year old daughter Georgia.

From being young, my faith was everything to me. I went to a Catholic school, was in the church choir, helped out in anyway I could, as much as I could.

Then it all changed...

The most kindest person I ever met, who had such a fun loving caring heart, died when I was in my last year at school, and my world was turned upside down and so was my faith - and yes I walked away and for a very long time I stayed away. I was taken over by so many emotions, first of all pain, then anger, then confusion.

However once all of those emotions subsided I was left with guilt. Guilt for blaming God, how could I, was my faith a lie, did I not truly believe? If I did, how could I have blamed him?

Anyways to cut a long story short I couldn’t come back to church. I didn’t feel I had the right to, for blaming him - surely I'd be a hypocrite.

But little did I know God had a plan, and that plan started with the birth of my little miracle baby, who when she was 5 met Rev Samantha from Holy Nativity Church and begged me to take her to church.

Which of course after a lot of soul searching I did.

But God knew I would. I am forever grateful to our father in heaven for showing me that even though I turned away from him he never left my side, and he always had plans to bring me home.

Thanks to the Liz and Mustard Seed group I am strengthening my connection, learning to listen and forming a stronger more loving relationship with God. I am so thankful for this opportunity and I'm excited for what's to come x
