Jane's Story

I am Jane Cotterill I am married with a grown up son and live in Marfleet village which is in Kingston upon Hull.

I attend St Giles Church at Marfleet and until recently I was church warden there. In the past I have been part of "Faith in education" which was a group of people going into schools in and around the city as mentors to children who had troubled lives. I did still go into the local primary school as volunteer until Covid arrived.

I now help with the Food bank at St Philip's which is part of the Marfleet parish. It was suggested that I joined Stepping Up as I was at a crossroads on my journey with God. I am hoping to hear God more clearly and learn more about him as well as hopefully finding my next pathway God wants me to walk. During the first part of Stepping Up we have been learning to listen more deeply to God. Jane wrote a poem in response to listening to God through creation.

You are heard in the breeze blowing through the leaves
You are felt in the rain on my face
You are seen in the beauty of the mountains

Your strength is in the stormy seas
Your gentleness is in snow that falls
Your greatness is in the starry sky
And your gift is peace
All these you give to us.
