Kat's Story

My name is Kat, and I was born in Hull. As you can probably tell, I’m very much into my 1960’s style (The Beatles being my favourite band). I love my style as it makes me stand out- it’s definitely become a statement piece for me, and is great for starting conversations and getting to know people.

Nearly three years ago, I started to attend Hull Minister after going through a rough patch and I’ve never looked back since. I absolutely love it there because everyone is so friendly, and you get a great family atmosphere feeling. Since attending Hull Minister, I’ve completed the Alpha course, attended bible groups and have just helped to lead an online Alpha course. I’ve volunteered a lot at the Minster and had the opportunity to speak in the mission service with Archbishop Sentamu.

Last September I finally plucked up the courage to get confirmed and, on the way back home, I had a gut feeling that God was calling me to work within the church. This is something that has not left me and so I am continuing to explore this. Being part of Stepping Up has been a great step for me in order to pursue my calling. Up to now we’ve talked about listening to ourselves, others and God and it’s brought me closer to God because of the new skills I’ve developed. I would definitely recommend to other people to join Stepping Up in the future!
