Many of us end up doing to children’s and/or youth work in our church because we think it is important, not necessarily because it is our area of expertise. This can sometimes leave us feeling at best ill-equipped, and at worst, inadequate. In the New Year, the Diocese is offering essential training for anyone working with children and young people whether they are lay, ordained, volunteer or paid. Covering subjects like spirituality and faith development, praying with children, and working in schools, the sessions are designed to provide theological underpinning and practical ideas for this kind of ministry, and can be taken as an entire course, or individually to meet specific training needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more from Carolyn Edwards, our Diocesan Children’s and Youth Advisor, and Olivia Seymour, Assistant Director of Education, as well as local expert practitioners, and to share tips and techniques with each other.
