Barlow Church of England Primary School has been judged ‘Good’ by OFSTED following their June 2019 Inspection, having been rated as Requiring Improvement in March 2017.
Foundation Governor the Revd Anna Burr said, “The Staff and Governors of Barlow School are thrilled that the school is now officially rated as ‘Good’. This hasn’t happened by magic, but, through a great deal of vision, commitment and sheer hard work – we could never have achieved this without our amazing children, trusting parents, phenomenal and flexible staff and the support of our Governors, the Local Authority, Diocese and friends.”
The school is now federated with nearby Chapel Haddlesey Church of England Primary School under the leadership of Headteacher Mrs Suzanne MacDonald.
The federation provides many new ways to widen children’s experience of sport, out of school learning opportunities, foreign languages, cooking and more. New friendships have been forged for both children and staff and there is great optimism for what the future holds.
Visitors to the school will see many signs of the hard work and immense effort by all concerned: the Early Years outdoor area for the youngest children allows for imaginative discovery and deep learning, while bright and welcoming classrooms show the creative learning environment developed. The re-ordered library is an inviting place to discover new worlds and the delights of the written word.
The Revd Anna Burr added, “None of this would have been possible without the clear and decisive leadership of our dedicated and gifted headteacher, Mrs MacDonald, who has given everyone the encouragement and belief that we can aspire to be ‘Good’ and who has supported us through the challenges we have faced with great skill and laughter.
“We are delighted to have been judged ‘Good’ and we are looking forward to the future of our school and the ongoing success of our pupils.”
