An advent Companionship over four Saturdays in December

Bishop of Hull Dr Eleanor Sanderson, with Believe in Hull, invite you to join them in prayer walking across the city of Hull on four successive December Saturdays from the 2nd.

Advent is a time of looking to, and longing for, the coming of Christ. It is also a time when we retell our nativity stories and are reminded of the remarkable ways that the heavens and the earth came together through ordinary people and extraordinary angels responding to God.

Andy Dorton of Believe in Hull says, "As we walk and pray, we will be remembering the ministry of angels to the people of God and inviting each other to pray some of the words recorded in scripture from the angels as our own words of prayer and intercession for our city."

What to expect each Saturday: in turn in the north, west, east and centre of Hull you are invited at 10.30am for an hour for a cup of something, then to listen to Bishop Eleanor share a reflection to guide our praying and walking as we leave and for the coming week. There will also be an activity in each place to create an angel and a banner with the angel’s words.

How might you use what you hear?

"You might want to walk to the church or churches and pray... and then walk back to the car, the bus, your bike using the words of the angel to you and homes you pass.

"And we hope you might prayer-walk your own neighbourhood, or the community around your church; maybe on a weekday… as much, and however - by scooter, by bike, in your car… as you are able."
