Heather Black, Mustard Seed Programme Leader, writes:

I started work as the Mustard Seed Programme Leader in February, just a few weeks before lockdown. It’s been a strange time in a new role, the project plan had to change very quickly, but the seeds of hope in the Mustard Seed prayer are being planted and there are many encouraging signs of growth.Covid-19 has added to the challenges that people face in our poorest parishes where life is already tough. Churches are responding in many creative and life-giving ways, offering support and planting those seeds of hope that we are praying for.

Over the coming weeks we will be sharing ‘Stories of Hope’, where churches are making a real difference to people’s lives. Church members are distributing food, supporting people who were homeless, helping people stay connected, collecting prescriptions and supporting families struggling in tiny houses or flats with no outside space.

The other good news is that the Stage 2 application to the Strategic Development Fund has been submitted this week, and so we invite you to pray as we await a decision in June. Please join us in prayer as we continue to pray for Mustard Seed and look out for the ‘Stories of Hope’.

Next week we will be sharing some wonderful stories from Bridlington…..bags of bagels, positive thoughts diaries, take away meals and chatting over the garden wall!
