A very important change to the law of marriage takes effect on 2nd March.

From that date, the marriage of a non-EEA national may only take place when a Superintendent Registrar’s Certificate has been issued.

Marriage by banns or common licence will no longer be possible.

There’s a guidance note from the Legal Office at Church House here, which sets out the way in which the new rules will operate. If you have any queries about the way the new rules will operate or about any specific marriage enquiries, please contact the Diocesan Registry on 01904 623487 or email registryyork@luptonfwcett.law.
