An opportunity to pray for specific people, activities, events and developments for work amongst children and young people around the diocese.

This page is not currently being regularly updated but please feel free to still send your requests to the email address below and we will add them when we are able to.

Every month there will be suggestions on this page to direct your prayers for work amongst children and young people in the diocese. If you would like us to pray for your event, activity or group, recruitment or project development, or give thanks for what God has been doing, then please send your request to childrenandyouth@yorkdiocese.org

Please pray for:

  • All the teachers, pupils and staff returning to school in the coming weeks. For peace and protection. Give thanks for all the parents and teachers.
  • Give thanks for the technology which enabled us to stay in touch with friends and families despite social isolation
  • All the children and young people who contributed to the Children of Light Festival Archbishop's commissioning service video
  • Progress with our environmental agenda, and for a young person to volunteer to be part of the steering group
  • Church leaders and volunteers as they interpret the 'road map' for coming out of lockdown and discern how best to connect with children, young people and their families again
  • the team setting up a Youth group in Thirsk
  • Employed children, youth and families workers across the Diocese. That they may know God's presence in their preparation and inspiration for how to connect with and support children, young people and their families in creative ways
  • Give thanks for the young people who have starting doing a Youth Alpha course in Carlton Drax

JAMES 7 yrs "Dear God, Please can you stop Caronovidus because we have been socially destancing for a long time and we haven’t seen Grandma and Grandad in ages.Please look after other people in the world. Amen"

TOM 9 yrs "Dear God, I pray for world peace, Covid 19 to stop, everyone to have a home, to have enough money. My family to be safe and that I have a pet kestrel and also that I go on holiday to Sweden. In Jesus name. Amen."
