Promoting a Safer Church

The care and protection of children, young people involved in Church activities is the responsibility of the whole Church.

Everyone who participates in the life of the Church has a role to play in promoting a Safer Church for all.
The Promoting a Safer Church document sets out the safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults’ policy of the Church of England

It has been informed by the Joint Safeguarding Statement between the Church of England and the Methodist Church, with whom we work jointly on many aspects of safeguarding policy on a covenant basis.

It is imperative that any church planning or undertaking work with children, young people or vulnerable adults adheres to the guidelines. If you need help in working this out please contact the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisors

Risk Assessment

It is really important that you have thought through the possible hazards of the activity or event that you are planning, and how you are going to avoid or mitigate them.

This does not mean that you don't do anything exciting, it just means that you are as prepared as you can be for any eventuality and have the necessary resources should things not go as planned
