For Aspiring Headteachers

The Doulos programme, ('Doulos' from the Greek word for servant) is designed to go alongside the NPQH in preparing future leaders of both CE and RC schools and academies. The programme is provided by the Ebor and Hallam teaching school alliances, and is designed by experienced headteachers and principals whose role is to offer coaching support, lead the facilitated days and provide an authentic assessment process.

The defined outcomes are:

  • A clear understanding of leadership in a Church School.
  • Identification of best practice in Church Schools following a placement.
  • Developing and establishing networking.
  • Increased confidence, self knowledge and professional understanding of a successful application process.

For Middle Leaders

The Archbishop of York's School Leadership Programme is designed to provide high quality middle leadership development for those working in Anglican schools or wishing to work in an environment founded on Christian values. At the heart of the programme is the emphasis on how values are conveyed at all levels of leadership in a school community as well as specific leadership development that will raise achievement.

The programme is open to existing and aspiring middle leaders from both the primary and secondary sectors, already within or seeking an appointment in a Church school. The programme will be delivered through The Pathfinder School with the support of the York Diocesan Education Team. Participants will be able to visit primary and secondary schools that demonstrate what "Outstanding" practice looks like.
