Diocesan Adviser in Pastoral Care
Contact
We are a diocese which takes wellbeing seriously. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified counsellor / psychotherapist to join us as the Diocesan Adviser in Pastoral Care. The successful candidate will be the primary lead in promoting and encouraging wellbeing, providing access to swift, safe, non-judgmental and confidential support for all ministers, their immediate families, and diocesan employees, especially during times of difficulty or crisis. In support of this the successful candidate will participate in the national network of Advisers and will have regular professional supervision, which will be paid for by the Diocese.
This is a full-time post, with options available around flexible / hybrid working. Desk-space will be available at our large, open-plan main office at Clifton Moor on the north side of York, and the role will involve travel around the diocese. We are a values-led organisation, reflecting our Christian ethos, and we encourage engagement and collaboration. Our benefits include a generous pension scheme and an Employee Assistance Programme; but most importantly we offer the opportunity to play a significant part in a vibrant and established organisation at the heart of spiritual and community life in one of the most diverse and beautiful parts of the country.
To be successful in this role you will have provided counselling/psychotherapy services previously, and be able to co-design and facilitate an annual programme of support for emotional wellbeing to diocesan staff and ministers.
Please note that this post is subject to an occupational requirement that the holder be a practicing Christian under Part 1 of schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.
