Every year Archbishop Holgate’s School seeks to live out its school values of Justice and Compassion in innovative ways, going further than simple fundraising. However, this itself raises over £10,000 every year for good causes. The school continues to uniquely have its own Foodbank collection point. They are shortly going to be sending their third van-load of food to help vulnerable families and individuals in our city. They have again been involved in creating shoe boxes for operation Christmas Child. Students in year 10 organised the appeal for the school and together managed to pack a fantastic 47 boxes filled with sweets, toiletries, stationary and toys.

This Christmas Archbishop Holgate’s School is launching another new project. They are going to be working with Carecent and St Michael-le-Belfrey Church to help the homeless and vulnerable here in the City of York. They are collecting warm adult winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves and thick socks. These are in great demand for those who spend much of their time on the streets of our city as the weather drops below freezing more regularly. As winter and Christmas approach many people feel that their seasonal wardrobe needs freshening up and that they want to buy something new or that they need a clear-out.

They are inviting parents, friends and any members of the public who have any items they wish to donate to drop them off at the school reception on Hull Road in York. Are you able to help too? Any items received will make a huge difference to those who receive them!
