Archbishop Sentamu is encouraging everyone he meets on Ash Wednesday (Wednesday 10 February) to pray with him at the start of Lent as he continues his 6-month Pilgrimage of Prayer, Witness & Blessing across Yorkshire.

He is collecting prayers throughout the day at St Nicholas Church Hornsea, Hornsea School & Language Centre, Whiteheads Fish and Chip Shop, Eastgate Surgery, The Promenade Residential Home and Hornsea Freeport Shopping Village. Archbishop Sentamu is leading the Ash Wednesday Service at 7.30pm at St Nicholas Church Hornsea – all are welcome.

Reverend Phil Lamb, Vicar at St Nicholas Church Hornsea, said: “The Archbishop wants to share God’s love with everyone he meets – he is a man ready to meet and encourage the people here. There is no better time than at the start of Lent to encourage people on their journey to get to know God better”.

The Archbishop will be at Hornsea on the east coast of Yorkshire and on his Pilgrimage in and around the villages of Holderness from 10-14 February 2016. He is leading prayers at St Leonard’s -Beeford, Holy Trinity Leven, Aldbrough Church, St Alban’s Withernwick, St John the Baptist - Bewholme, St Andrews’s - Foston-on-the-Wolds, All Saints -Mappleton, St Michael’s -Catwick and St Augustine -Skirlaugh.

Daily walks are available from Main Street at North Frodingham, Bert’s Pizzeria at Brandesburton, Elmfield Drive at Brandesburton, Lamplugh Farm at Leven, Double Dutch at Aldbrough, St Alban’s Church at Withernwick, Wrygarth Inn at Great Hatfield, and along the disused railway line at Swine.
