The day after his Consecration, Bishop John visited rural schools, a land based college and an auction mart. As well as caring for the Archdeaconry of York, Bishop John will be an ambassador for rural life and mission across the Diocese.

On Friday 4th July, Archbishop Sentamu and Archdeacon Sarah introduced Bishop John to some of the issues in some rural areas of the Archdeaconry of York. In the morning, Bishop John visited Micklefield, Aberford and Saxton CE Schools to meet students and staff.

Bishop John then visited Askham Bryan College, where principle Liz Philip showed him and the Archbishop around the fastest growing land based college in the country. The Bishop next visited York Auction Centre, to meet with owner James Stephenson and people from the nearby rural and farming communities.
