On Saturday 21 May, St John Newland hosted a special 90th Birthday special celebration for the Queen. Over 200 people attended the special tea party which involved 2 bouncy castles, cakes, sandwiches, and a video presentation of the Queen’s life.

A free photo booklet was given to everyone, ‘The Servant Queen and the King she serves’ which wonderfully illustrates the reality of the Queen’s Christian faith. "It was a marvellous occasion which was enthusiastically supported by a wide range of people, young and old", said the Revd. Melvin Tinker. "The atmosphere was terrific, everyone went away with a deeper affection for her Majesty and a greater understanding of her faith".

The associate minister of St John’s, Scott Mackay, gave an inspiring talk on the way the Queen tried to model in her own role as Monarch, the King she swore to serve at her coronation, Jesus Christ.
