The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, will license the new vicar of the Benefice of Acomb Moor on Friday 20th November. The benefice includes Woodthorpe, Acomb Park, Foxwood and parts of Dringhouses in the south west area of York, and the Revd Luke Tillett will be collated and licensed at the parish church of St James the Deacon in Sherringham Drive at 7.30 pm.

Luke, 27, is currently Domestic Chaplain to the Rt Revd Glyn Webster, Bishop of Beverley. He was ordained in 2010, and before his current role, served as Assistant Curate at St Nicholas, Guisborough.

Luke said, “I’m originally from Tadcaster, where my family still live. I originally planned to become a teacher, but before going to university I was involved with an ecumenical youth project in the Tadcaster area. During this time I began to discern the call to become a priest, and so instead of studying to be a teacher, I went to Ridley Hall, Cambridge to study theology.

“I am delighted at the prospect of being called to serve the people of Acomb Moor. I am very excited about moving to the area, joining with the people of St James the Deacon church in prayer and service, and reaching out to the community with the good news of the gospel of the love of God in Christ.”
