The Diocese of York now has a new website. It's been designed to be more flexible, easier to navigate and to read, and simpler to read on tablets and mobiles, which is increasingly how websites are accessed.
We’ve taken the opportunity to change the navigation of the website; the ‘map’ of how pages are accessed. Instead of having four entry points from the home page, we now have 10 sections at the top of all pages. Here’s a list of these sections, and what is in them.
- People and places: Who’s who in the Diocese, information on the people in Deaneries, Wydale Hall, the South African link
- News and events: all the news and events from across the Diocese
- Generous churches: resources to help churches as they support the Common Fund, and help for congregations on giving
- Making and nurturing disciples: resources to help people and churches as they grow in our five Marks of Growing
- Vacancies and appointments: jobs available in the Diocese, whether it's clergy vacancies, education or youth work jobs, and news of recent clergy appointments
- Supporting people: resources to help individuals in their ministry – whether it’s Readers, Clergy, lay people; and information on vocations, training and more
- Supporting parishes: resources to help parishes in their work, whether it’s looking after church buildings, communications, legal matters, and more
- Supporting schools: resources to help our 127 church schools and academies, and those who work with them
- Children and youth: resources to help children and young people, and those who work with them
- Safeguarding: resources to help churches be safe places for children and vulnerable adults
I hope you find the new website easier to use. As with all new websites, there’s bound to be a period when we learn to use it, and discover where items are. If you have problems finding items, the search function will be live in a few days. The search function isn’t currently available, as we use Google as our search engine, and Google can take a few days to ‘read’ our new website and find its pages once it has gone live.
