The Archbishop of York is inviting ten people who are celebrating their 90th birthday this year, along with their guest, to join the celebrations at Bishopthorpe Palace to mark the 90th Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.

The free tickets for anyone who is 90 this year – along with their companion will be issued on a first come first served basis. Applications should be made by writing to Mrs Sandy Reynard, Palace and Events Manager, Bishopthorpe Palace, York YO23 2GE.

The Archbishop has opened the grounds of Bishopthorpe Palace on Saturday 11 June to mark the Queen’s Birthday celebrations from 2.00pm onwards. Admission is by ticket only. Tickets are priced: £20.00 Adults, £5 Under 12’s. Under 5’s go free. This is an outdoor event with no seating or cover provided and will go ahead whatever the weather. Please feel free to bring along your own chairs or a picnic blanket, together with your own food and drink – plastic cups only! Hot food will be available and a bar selling beers, wines and soft drinks. There is no parking at the Palace and no dogs are allowed.

Performances on the day will include children from Archbishop of York Junior School, The Shepherd Group Concert Band, HUGE, The Grand Old Uke of York and Adrian Lee-Stokes and his band. The Shepherd Group Senior Band will bring the evening to a close with a proms style finale and a spectacular firework display finishing around 10.00pm.
