The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, will speak about his life and faith to hundreds of people at The Spa, Scarborough, on Sunday 22nd June at 7pm.

The Revd Martyn Dunning, Vicar of St Mary’s Church in Scarborough has helped organise the evening. He said, “We’re delighted that Archbishop Sentamu is coming to The Spa to speak about his life and faith, and his extraordinary journey from Uganda to Yorkshire when, as Judge in the Supreme Court of Uganda, he challenged Idi Amin’s brutal regime.

“Before becoming Archbishop of York, Sentamu was Bishop of Stepney and Bishop of Birmingham, served on the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry Team and chaired the Damilola Taylor Murder Investigation Review. I’d encourage everyone in Scarborough to come and hear his fascinating story, and how God has worked in his life.”

The Evening with Archbishop Sentamu is part of Spring Tide, a week of events held by Scarborough churches from 21st to 28th June, and including a town barbeque in Alma Square on Saturday 21st June from 12pm to 2pm.

Tickets cost £4, from The Church Office, St Mary’s Parish House, Scarborough YO11 1TH, 01723 500541 or on the door.
