The Esk Valley Teaching School Alliance is pleased to announce that it is now taking applications for Initial Teacher Training for those that wish to become Primary School teachers.

The Esk Valley Alliance (EVA) is a long standing alliance in the Whitby region of North Yorkshire, and emerged from a belief that schools could be stronger, more sustainable and provide better outcomes and opportunities for everyone if they worked more collaboratively.

The Esk Valley school-centred (School Direct ITT) primary programme is committed to delivering outstanding education and training that is current and relevant, and that provides excellent opportunities for student teachers to develop their knowledge and understanding of their subject and wider educational issues, so that they are equipped to be outstanding teachers and leaders.

Sharon Markham, Business Manager for the Esk Valley Alliance said: ‘A school led training course gives trainee teachers the opportunity to learn whilst in role in a school. Trainee teachers’ work as part of the teaching team from day one.’

Initial Teacher Training with the Esk Valley Alliance and York St John University will provide those embarking upon a career in Primary education with high quality training that not only responds to the demands of the Teaching Standards and changes in the wider education landscape but also encompasses and embraces that which criticises and critiques current practice, encouraging, acknowledging and rewarding research-led reflection on pedagogy.
