Archdeacon of Clevelend Amanda Bloor celebrated the Eucharist and admitted eleven pupils from St Peter's Church of England Primary School to Holy Communion during a service at St Margaret's Church, Brotton (near Saltburn) on the 19th November, with the pupils, staff and parents of the school proudly watching on.

An art competition organised by churches in the Selby Deanery attracted entries from a number of local schools including Barlby Bridge, Selby Abbey Primary School, Monk Fryston Primary School, Read School Drax, Aberford and Micklefield Primary Schools, and Barlow and Hambleton Primary Schools. The competition attracted great interest with over 400 entries received from schools and individuals.

In February this year, Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart wrote to all schools in his constituency encouraging teachers to attend the UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme.
