Last night two window panes were smashed by people attempting to get into the famous cliff-top Church of St Mary, Whitby.
The burglar alarm may have put them off and there was swift response to the call out by the Churchwardens.
This may have been a opportunistic attack but it may be that attempts are made on other churches.
Do not hesitate to call the police if you have reason to believe a church may have suffered an attack of this kind.
