A survey for people across the Diocese of York, framed around missional discipleship and everyday faith, has been launched by the Diocesan Mission and Ministry team.

As part of the diocesan vision to Live Christ’s Story, one of our four priorities is to grow as missional disciples and become more like Christ. It brings us to the core of our Christian faith, and asks those questions of us which drives everything else –

  • What is our faith?
  • Who is Jesus to me?
  • How does our faith influence and inform our behaviours, our thinking and our actions?
  • How does our faith shape who we are, and how we live our lives?
  • How do we join with God in mission?

This survey helps us as a diocese understand the picture of spirituality and discipleship as we continue our journey of Living Christ’s Story.

Archbishop Stephen said, “Discipleship is at the heart of how we Live Christ’s Story. It is how we grow as missionary disciples in everyday life, authentically living out our faith in every aspect of life.

"This survey has my full support as we seek to build a picture of how people from all ages, backgrounds and traditions already live and grow in their faith. It will help to shape the input and support the diocese offers to churches and communities as we continue in our journey of Becoming More Like Christ. Thank you for helping with this as we look to notice and celebrate change and growth over the coming years.”

A small team will analyse the responses, and will use them to shape our work to best support our churches and communities as well as gaining a better understanding of the picture of discipleship across our diocese. This will help us to know how we can better share stories of faith and encourage one another, as well as how our diocesan Rhythm of Life can be developed to meet the needs of everyone in our communities.

Sammi Tooze, Diocesan Discipleship Adviser, adds, "Our hope is that this survey will reach widely across the diocese. Whether you are young or old, new to faith or a practicing Christian for decades, in licensed ministry or part of a worshipping community - we really encourage everyone to both complete the survey and to share it widely, so that the data we gather reflects the full picture across our diverse communities."

Thank you for you for your support in helping us to gather this data. Please complete surveys by 29th October 2023.
