Earlier in the summer, families from across the diocese gathered at Wydale for their annual Family Camp.

Adults and young people alike spent time each day exploring what a healthy and engaging Rhythm of Life might look like in their families.

Using the framework of the Diocese of York's Rhythm of Life, everyone took part in fun activities throughout the weekend, looking at biblical characters and their stories, and what we can learn from their lived discipleship.

The highlight for many of the parents was seeing how well their teenagers led 'Sweaty Church' on the Sunday morning, facilitating activities and discussions about aspects of faith.

For many of the young people, a big highlight was eating s’mores around the campfire on the Saturday evening!

A grandmother of four, says,

“My grandchildren and I had an amazing time, and they keep asking when they can go back! Even though I had four girls with me, I found it very restful with lots of time to sit quietly with my own thoughts and prayers”.

Another participant commented,

“We had a special time meeting old friends and making new ones”.

Sammi Tooze, Diocesan Discipleship Adviser, comments,

"We are really pleased that through mutual listening, learning and sharing, our diocesan family camp has helped us to shape the latest resource in our Rhythm of Life collection, aimed at families. My hope is that it will enable families across our diocese to joyfully grow in faith together, to reflect on everyday faith and missional discipleship, and use the flexible framework to add their own ideas of how to intentionally live faith together."
