This week Richard White, our Director of Making and Nurturing Disciples, launched a new weekly podcast called ‘The Other Side of the Boat’.

“It’s going to be about becoming more effective at mission as we learn from different people who are sharing Jesus, showing his goodness, making disciples, seeing church communities flourish as they reach out, or planting new communities” Richard explained. “I’ll be interviewing people who are are involved in creative, inspiring or useful approaches to mission. Not so that we should all copy them, but to learn from their experience and as we do so to listen out for the nudge of the Spirit in our own situations. There will be a mixture of ordained and lay, those from our own Diocese and others from further afield. We’ll aim to keep it under 30mins and wherever possible to have a new one each week.”

In the first episode, Richard explains more about the podcast’s name and planned format before interviewing Jane Edwards about a simple but wonderful way she is involved in sharing her faith with colleagues working at funeral homes across South Manchester. She says sometimes “you reach a point of crisis before you get creative!”
