Chrism Mass

This year’s Chrism Mass takes place at York Minster.
The Archbishop of York will preach and preside, blessing the oils used at services of baptism, confirmation, and ordination in the year ahead. Clergy from across the diocese will renew the vows made at their ordinations, remembering the ministry to which they are called.
Hot cross buns will be served after the service.
Vesture:
Robing to take place in the Chapter House. Robing from 10.15am; Briefing at 10.45am.
You must hold a current licence from the Archbishop or a current Permission to Officiate to robe and process.
- College of Canons (Ordained): own cassock and surplice; Minster copes and stoles
- College of Canons (Lay): Minster gowns
- Clergy: own alb and white stole
- Licensed Lay Ministers: own cassock, surplice, and scarf
