Connections around the world
The Diocese of York is twinned with three adjoining Dioceses in South Africa – Cape Town (with the Archdeaconry of the East Riding), False Bay (with the Archdeaconry of Cleveland) and Saldanha Bay (with the Archdeaconry of York). The links are to encourage one another, through a mutual concern to help each other in our mission to make Christ’s love known. Each year, there are several exchange trips to and from South Africa.
Through the Church of England, the Diocese of York is a member of the Porvoo Communion, a group of 15 Anglican and Evangelical Lutheran churches in Europe. The communion was established in 1992 by a theological agreement entitled the Porvoo Common Statement which establishes full communion between and among these churches.
