This accessibility statement applies to dioceseofyork.org.uk.
The Diocese of York is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. For example, this means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader
We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and, in doing so, adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.
How accessible this website is
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. We aim to meet Level AA of WCAG 2.2.
Whilst we strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website.
