Chairs of Governors Development Programme

PLEASE NOTE – OUR SESSIONS ARE ONLY FOR THOSE WORKING IN AND WITH CE SCHOOLS IN THE DIOCESE OF YORK

The Chair of Governors Development Programme supports current and aspiring Chairs and Vice Chairs (at both whole board and committee levels) to strengthen their vision led strategic leadership of Church schools and academies. It offers focused development opportunities relating to board leadership across a broad range of governance matters, alongside opportunities for networking with peers to share practice and explore common challenges.

The programme will be delivered via Zoom over 4 sessions over a 2 year period as follows:

Session 1: Tuesday 3rd November – 6.00pm – 8.00pm – The role of the Chair and vision driven, effective leadership.

Session 2: Thursday 29th April 2027 – 6.00pm – 8.00pm – Strategic leadership and developing relationships with leaders.

Following successful completion of the above sessions, delegates will be able to complete sessions 3 & 4 as follows:

Session 3: Accountability, Assurance and Planning

Session 4: An optional 1:1 discussion.

Please note, Sessions 3 & 4 will take place in the academic year 2027 / 28. Dates tbc.

Cost

• These sessions are provided free of charge for schools but places must be booked via Eventbrite
• Signing up for this session will sign you up for the whole programme.

 

An Online Module for a self-led introduction to governance in a Church school is also available for all new foundation governors and any other governors who may find it useful.
