‘Called to care’
16th – 20th November 2026
Safeguarding is part of how we live Christ’s story together. Each November, Safeguarding Week brings together a programme of free sessions to help clergy, parish officers, volunteers, and others involved in church life grow in confidence and understanding. The sessions explore practical safeguarding responsibilities alongside broader issues affecting people in our churches and communities.
If you would like to take part in one of the sessions, please fill in your details in the form below and and select which session(s) you would like to attend. If you have any issues or are unable to complete the form, please contact the Safeguarding Team at safeguardingtraining@yorkdiocese.org.

As part of Safeguarding Week 2026, the Diocese of York and York Minster invite you to a candlelit walk on Thursday 19th November 2026.
This walk is an opportunity to stand alongside victims and survivors, acknowledge the harm caused by abuse, and affirm that no one should have to carry their experiences alone.
Whether you have been affected by abuse, are supporting someone you care about, work in safeguarding, or wish to show your solidarity, you are welcome. You do not need to speak about your experiences or take part in any activity. You can walk with others, observe quietly, or leave at any time.
The walk will begin outside York Minster and continue at a comfortable pace to the Spurriergate Centre. Participants are invited to walk in quiet reflection and remembrance. Support will be available for anyone who needs it.
