More than 80 leaders from across Middlesbrough gathered on Friday 19th June for the latest Bishop’s Boro Big Breakfast.
Hosted by Bishop Barry in partnership with Middlesbrough College, the breakfast brought together people from charities, politics, civic life, statutory and emergency services, healthcare, and education. Catering students from the college prepared food for guests.
The theme of this third breakfast was fostering hope and ambition. It connected with a significant season for Middlesbrough, as the town prepares to host the Turner Prize this autumn and has been shortlisted for UK City of Culture 2029.
Each of the six-monthly breakfasts includes interviews with local leaders. This time, Bishop Barry spoke with Debs Smith from the local charity Big Kids, Charlotte Dinsdale from Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation, which is celebrating its 30th birthday, Bini Araia from the International Centre, who is also co-Chair of East Middlesbrough’s Pride in Place board, and Andy McDonald, MP for central Middlesbrough.
The breakfasts are designed to help local leaders build relationships, share ideas, and strengthen work for the good of the town.
The next Bishop’s Boro Big Breakfast will take place in January.
