In 2025, we began a new listening process to ensure that children and young people in the diocese have a voice in shaping the conversations that matter to them. This approach was designed to give young people space to set the agenda, choose the topics they want to explore, and share their views with peers.
In 2025 our GROW Youth Discipleship Ambassadors designed the questions.
In 2026 we have worked with students in Manor CofE Academy York. They have:
- Selected the theme for discussion
- Designed activities to help ask meaningful questions
- They will gather responses
- and collate a report
This process reflects our commitment to listening and valuing the insights of children and young people at both primary and secondary levels. Their contributions help us understand what matters most to them and guide our shared journey in living Christ’s story.
If you would like to support children or young people in taking part in the 2026 listening activities download the activity pack here. The deadline for submitting responses is 30th September. Please submit responses to childrenandyouth@yorkdiocese.org with the subject Listening Process- thank you.
The theme chosen is well being and exploring our emotions. Please read the guidance within the pack and consider carefully whether this topic works well for your children and young people at this time. You may wish to consider any resources and organisations that can support children and young people in your context as they think about their emotions and well being.
