The Revd Thomas Bates-Bourne, Assistant Priest of the Priory Benefice in the Diocese of Leeds, has been appointed Vicar of South Thornaby. He will be collated by the Bishop of Whitby and the Bishop of Beverley in the Parish Church of St Mark the Evangelist, South Thornaby on Sunday 19th May 2024 at 7.00pm.
The Revd Nigel Benson, Assistant Curate of Harton, has been appointed as Vicar of Harton. He will be collated by the Bishop of Selby in St Mary’s, Sand Hutton on Thursday, 11 April 2024 at 7.30pm.
The Revd Eileen Connolly, Assistant Curate of Sutton Park St Andrew and Wawne St Peter, has resigned from 15 May further to her appointment as Mission Priest of Beverley St John and St Martin with Routh All Saints. She will be licensed by the Bishop of Hull at Beverley Minster on Wednesday, 15 May 2024 at 7.30pm.
The Revd Glyn Diggins, Vicar of Malton and Old Malton, has resigned with effect from 28 April 2024.
The Revd Simon Elliott, Priest in Charge of Hutton Cranswick with Skerne, Watton and Beswick and of Nafferton with Wansford, is leaving to be Chaplain to HM Prison Hull with effect from 29 April 2024. His final service in the Benefice will be on Sunday 14 April 2024, and he will be licensed by the Bishop of Hull at HM Prison Hull on 1 May at 9.30am.
The Revd Claire Elwood, Assistant Curate of Durham, St Nicholas, has been appointed as Interim Associate Minister of York St Michael le Belfrey for a period of three years. She will be licensed by the Bishop of Selby on Wednesday, 8th May 2024 at 7.30pm at the De Grey Rooms, York.
The Revd Dr Sam Mawer, currently Assistant Curate of Guisborough, will continue her curacy in the Benefice of Fylingdales and Hawsker cum Stainsacre and the Benefice of Lower Esk. She will be licensed by the Bishop of Whitby on Tuesday 9th April 2024.
The Bishop of Hull has appointed the Revd Philip Maudsley, Vicar of Filey, additionally as Acting Area Dean of Scarborough from 24 April – 3 August 2024 (this is to cover the Revd Sam Taylor whilst she is Acting Archdeacon of the East Riding).
The Revd Canon James Milne, Canon Residentiary and Precentor of St Paul’s Cathedral, London, is to be the new Precentor at York Minster. He will join the Chapter of York as Residentiary Canon and Prebendary of Laughton-en-le-Morthen. He will be Collated by the Archbishop of York and Installed by the Dean of York at York Minster during Evensong on Saturday 18th May 2024 at 4.00pm.
The Revd Nicola Penn-Allison, Assistant Curate of Weaverthorpe with Helperthorpe, Luttons Ambo & Kirby Grindalythe with Wharram, and Area Dean of Southern Ryedale, has been appointed as Priest-in-Charge of Weaverthorpe with Helperthorpe, Luttons Ambo & Kirby Grindalythe with Wharram. She will continue as Area Dean for Southern Ryedale.
The Bishop of Selby has re-appointed the Revd Canon Caroline Pinchbeck, Vicar of Weighton Wold held in plurality with Goodmanham and Sancton, as Area Dean of South Wold for a further period of five years with effect from 27th February 2024.
The Revd Helen Rawlings, Assistant Curate of Upper Ryedale and of Helmsley, will retire on Tuesday 4th June 2024. Her final service will be on Sunday 19th May 2024 at 10.00am in All Saints’ Church, Old Byland.
The Revd Peter Roberts, Rector of Monk Fryston and South Milford, has been appointed additionally as Assistant Curate of Birkin. He will be licensed by the Bishop of Selby at St Mary’s, Birkin, on 14th April at 10.00am.
The Revd Jonathan Rhodes, Rector of Brotton, has been appointed additionally as Priest-in-Charge of Skelton with Upleatham held in plurality with Boosbeck and Lingdale.
The Revd Samantha Taylor, Vicar of Eastfield and Area Dean of Scarborough, is to be the Acting Archdeacon of the East Riding, during the extended study leave of the Ven Andy Broom, from Saturday 4 May 2024 to Saturday 3 August 2024.
The Revd Maxine Waller, Assistant Minister at Derwent Ings and Escrick and Stillingfleet with Naburn, has resigned with effect from 5th June 2024 further to her appointment as Priest-in-Charge of The Beacon Benefice. She will be licensed by the Bishop of Hull in St Martin, Burton Agnes on Wednesday 5th June at 7.30pm.
The Revd Matthew Woodcock, 20s – 40s Minister at York, St Barnabas and York, St Paul, has been appointed Priest-in-Charge of Acomb, St Stephen (York). He will be licensed by the Bishop of Selby in St Stephen’s, Acomb on Thursday 23rd May at 7.30pm.
