Farewell services for the Bishop of Whitby and Bishop of Selby in July 2024

The people and churches of the Archdeaconry of York will bid farewell to Bishop John Thomson, retiring as Bishop of Selby, at the 10.00am Sung Eucharist service in Selby Abbey on Sunday 14th July 2024, at which he will preside and preach. The service will be followed by refreshments.

Each parish in the Archdeaconry of York has been invited to send at least two representatives; all are welcome and you’re asked to notify the Bishop of Selby’s office (01757 429982; bishopofselbypa@yorkdiocese.org) if you plan to attend in order to get an idea of numbers.

The people and churches of the Archdeaconry of Cleveland will bid farewell to Bishop Paul Ferguson, retiring as Bishop of Whitby, at a service of Evensong at 4.00pm in All Saints’ Church, Northallerton on Sunday 14th July 2024. All are welcome.

Both Bishop Paul and Bishop John will say their farewells to the Diocese of York at 5.30pm Evensong in York Minster on Tuesday 16th July 2024. All are welcome.
