Faith in the North

Encouraging a movement of prayer, storytelling and church planting inspired by the northern saints.

Faith in the North is the Archbishop of York’s initiative which seeks to encourage a movement of prayer, storytelling and church planting inspired by the Northern Saints. It provides resources for churches, schools and individuals to foster deeper connections with the Christian faith and renew missionary purpose.

The Lord’s Prayer Tour – 2025

A service of Choral Evensong at York Minster on Friday 7th March marked the start of the Lord’s Prayer Tour across the North of England. Led by Archbishop Stephen, the tour will visit cathedrals and churches, exploring the profound words of the Lord’s Prayer through teaching, reflection, and music.

A key date on the tour is 10th October 2025, when Archbishop Stephen is inviting people across the North of England to unite in saying the Lord’s Prayer together via a livestream from Blackburn Cathedral. Don’t miss this moment to pray alongside others across the region.

How to get involved

At the heart of Faith in the North is a longing to revive the spirit of the Anglo-Saxon Saints such as Hild, Bede, Cuthbert and Aidan, leading towards 2027, when we will celebrate the 1400th anniversary of the Church of Saint Peter in York (York Minster) and the baptism of King Edwin by Paulinus in 627.
