The Revd Andrew John Gready, Vicar of Clifton Benefice and Area Dean of York, has been appointed additionally as Chaplain to Communities supporting the Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller Community for a period of two years. His licensing by the Bishop of Whitby will take place in the Diocesan Office Chapel on Wednesday 9th September 2026 at 12.30pm.
The Revd David Johnson, Vicar of the Benefice of Northallerton, Romanby and Kirby Sigston, has been appointed additionally as Assistant Area Dean of Mowbray for a period of six months, from Wednesday 14th October 2026 until Wednesday 14th April 2027. He will be commissioned at the Bishop of Whitby’s office on Wednesday 14th October 2026.
The Revd Alisdair Mark Laird, Vicar of the Benefice of Easington w Skeffling, Keyingham, Ottringham, Patrington, Welwick and Winestead; Interim Priest‑in‑Charge of the Benefice of Burton Pidsea, Humbleton w Elsternwick, Halsham and Thorngumbald; Interim Assistant Curate of the Benefice of Hedon, Paull, Sproatley and Preston in Holderness; and Interim Priest‑in‑Charge of the South Holderness Coast Benefice, will retire on Saturday 31st October 2026.
The Revd Philip Maudsley, Vicar of the Benefice of Filey, will resign with effect from Tuesday 22nd September 2026 to become Ministry Area Leader of the Penarth Ministry Area in the Diocese of Llandaff.
The Revd Christopher Ashley Mitchell, Resident Chaplain at St Clement Danes (RAF), has been appointed as part-time Chaplain at Queen Mary’s School, Thirsk. His licensing by the Bishop of Whitby will take place at the Bishop of Whitby’s office on Tuesday 8th September 2026 at 9.00am.
The Revd Canon Dr Christian Nathan Selvaratnam, Director of Church Planting at St Hild College, will additionally be licensed to serve as Assistant Curate (SSM) in the Benefice of Acomb St Stephen. His licensing by the Bishop of Selby will take place in a private ceremony on Wednesday 22nd July 2026 at 4.00pm.
