Faith in Action

Ways we live Christ’s story through justice, inclusion, and creation care.

God calls and equips us as churches to act justly as a sign of our love for God and our love for our neighbour. In doing so, we challenge the sin of injustice, and we work for a world that reflects God’s values of justice and mercy.

Environmental Justice is seen in how we care for creation. Social is seen in how we transform structures that perpetuate poverty and inequality. Racial Justice is seen in building the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural kingdom of God. Justice is about our churches offering the radical hospitality of Jesus Christ. This hospitality changes us as we receive from those who are different from us.

What Faith in Action looks like in the Diocese of York

In living out our faith, we aim to:

  • Become more like Christ – in humility, courage, and love
  • Reach people we currently don’t – by showing up where life is really lived
  • Grow churches of missionary disciples – reflecting God’s kingdom in our worship, leadership, and welcome, particularly for those who are younger, vulnerable, or from marginalised communities.
  • Transform our structures and finances – ensuring our resources serve mission, our systems are simpler and fairer, and our money choices match our values.
