The annual festival of Hilda’s Heirs returns this March to York, celebrating women of faith who have gone before us.
Held in partnership between the Diocese of York, York Minster, and Yorkshire North and East Methodist district, York will host the upcoming event. The festival celebrates the vision of women who have gone before us, and inspires women and girls in leadership in the Church and the wider world today.
The event, taking place at York Minster on Saturday 9th March, will begin at 10.00am with worship focusing on giving thanks for women of faith.
Throughout the day, women who are in various forms of leadership, including Rachel Maskell MP, will host a market place which will offer conversation and activities.
As part of this year’s festival, two new trails have been commissioned, creating pilgrim walks for following in the footsteps of inspiring women. One trail is set within the Minster, exploring women whose lives have left a lasting impact on the building, the city and the wider Church – legacies which can still be seen in glass and stone. The other trail takes place outdoors around the city of York, celebrating diverse women who have transformed their community over the centuries.

The day will conclude with an act of worship, with the festival ending at 3.00pm.
