The Diocesan Office is closed on all Bank Holidays as well after the final working day before Christmas, reopening on the first working day after New Year. The following procedure is in place in case of an emergency during office closure times.
The Property Team will continue to be on call to help you with problems or provide advice. If necessary leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
During closure periods, we can only take serious emergency repair requests. These are limited to repairs which present a danger to life, the risk of serious injury, a serious security risk or a serious risk to the property.
We will aim for someone to attend the property within 4 hours of the repair being reported in order to make the immediate danger safe. We will then attempt to complete the work within 24hrs.
Examples of emergency repairs include:
- Total or partial loss of electrical power or water supply
- Blocked flue to open fire or boiler
- Uncontainable leak from water or heating pipe, tank or cistern – the emergency response may be simply turning the water supply off
- Insecure external ground floor window, door or lock
- Toilet not flushing – if there is no other toilet in the house
If there are less urgent repairs which arise, please wait until the Diocesan Office is open as they will not be logged until then.
