Situated among the striking landscape of North Yorkshire, this benefice brings together six distinct parishes, each with deep roots, dedicated congregations and rich local identities. Our churches span village centres, hamlets, and rural settlements, each with its own character, heritage and opportunities for mission. We are united by our shared vision and common desire to be welcoming, accessible and outward-looking.
As our first Rector, you will help shape the culture and direction of this new benefice underpinned by prayer and steady leadership. You will be well supported – by engaged PCCs, churchwardens, volunteers, an experienced House for Duty Associate Priest, and the wider Northern Ministry Enabling Team – for shared ministry, mutual resourcing and imaginative collaboration.
We are seeking a Rector who is:
- rooted in prayer, scripture and the sacramental life of the church
- a gifted preacher, able to nurture deeper confidence in faith and the bible
- committed to spiritual growth across all ages
- approachable, outward-facing and visible within village life
- encouraging of lay ministry, recognising and releasing other gifts
- a team player, able to work with the House for Duty Priest and clergy colleagues
- committed to fostering unity, whilst respecting the individuality of each parish
- able to engage confidently with financial realities
If you feel called to rural parish ministry, enjoy building relationships, and are excited by the chance to guide a benefice at a formative moment, we would love to hear from you. Join us as we seek to grow in faith, deepen our mission, and serve our villages with the hope and love of Christ.
