Explore God’s generosity and what it means to live generously.
Generosity Week is an opportunity for your church to reflect on God’s generosity towards us and consider how we can respond through generous lives.
It often works well during the Harvest season, when we are already giving thanks for all that God has given us, but you can hold a Generosity Week at any time of year. The programme is deliberately flexible, so you can adapt it to suit the size, context and capacity of your church.
By the end of the week, we hope that your congregation will have a deeper understanding of God’s generosity and feel encouraged to put generosity into practice in their everyday lives.
How to organise a Generosity Week
1. Choose your week
Pick a week that works for your church. You could link it with Harvest or another suitable point in your church calendar.
2. Ask for support
Contact the diocesan Generous Giving team for advice, ideas and help choosing the right resources for your church.
3. Choose your activities
Explore the available resources and select the worship, reflections, and activities that will work best in your context. You do not need to use everything.
Think about who will lead each part and make sure you have enough people to help.
4. Plan two Sundays
Holding Generosity Week between two Sundays gives you an opportunity to explore:
- Gratitude: recognising and giving thanks for God’s generosity.
- Generosity: considering how we respond through our time, gifts, actions and money.
Service outlines, sermon starters, and prayers are available to help you plan generosity-themed worship.

Generous Living resources

They support our commitment to become more like Christ and to transform our mission and ministry—helping people see generosity not simply as giving money, but as a way of life shaped by God’s generosity to us.
