Vicar of Great Ayton with Easby and Newton-under-Roseberry
Contact
Is God calling you to be the next Vicar for the Parishes of Great Ayton (pop. 5000) and Newton Under Roseberry (pop. 120)?
The Benefice is a place of great creativity, missional energy and faithful service. Highly capable lay leaders and officers work closely with an effective and supportive leadership team to serve the parishes. The churches enjoy excellent relationships with the wider community. This is seen in the fruit of encouraging levels of participation in church life, alongside significant potential on which to build in the years to come.
We can offer you:
- Friendly, outward-focused, village communities on the northern edge of the North York Moors National Park
- Supportive clergy and reader colleagues with enthusiastic lay leaders
- Generous churches with sound finances
- More ministry and less administration
- Well-appointed, modernised 4-bedroom vicarage with easy access to good local schools.
We are praying our next Vicar will:
- Prayerfully lead communities in worship, reliant on the Spirit of God
- Inspire children, young people and families to deepen their faith in Jesus
- Be a collaborative team player who can lead and develop mission and ministry so all can live Christ’s story.
- Be a teacher and preacher of God’s word and someone who encourages the development of people’s gifts and service.
About Us
The Diocese of York, led and guided by Archbishop Stephen Cottrell, takes in much of North and East Yorkshire. As the largest diocese in England, geographically, the area is very diverse, featuring a multitude of needs and opportunities. This includes the bustling urban centres of York, Hull and Middlesbrough, the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park, and the incomparable Yorkshire Coast; as well as areas of deprivation in some of our urban and smaller rural and coastal communities.
Our mission and ministry relies on thousands of people – lay and ordained, volunteer and paid. Our diocesan teams provide a wide range of support services to our mission and ministry, including lifelong learning for ministry, the care of church buildings, and safeguarding. Together, we are striving to be a people who are ‘Living Christ’s Story’. We want to be a simpler, bolder, humbler church which in its diversity reflects the communities it serves. We are bringing renewed focus and fresh energy to achieving our aims:
- Becoming more like Christ
- Reaching those we currently don’t
- Growing in discipleship, influence and numbers
- Transforming our finances and structures
