“My faith lies at the heart of all I do,” says Mo Theodosius, newly-appointed York Diocesan Adviser in Pastoral Care.

“Indeed, it’s a core motivator in my desire to come and work in the Diocese.”

Mo is a UKCP registered Systemic and Family Psychotherapist, with 25 years of clinical experience, including within the Church of England, of which she is a worshipping member.

As Diocesan Adviser in Pastoral Care Mo’s role will be to work alongside colleagues to promote and embed wellbeing across the Diocese. This will include providing access to swift, safe, non-judgmental and confidential professional support for all licensed and authorised ministers and their families, and diocesan employees during times of difficulty or crisis. She succeeds the Revd Andrew de Smet who developed the role from 2007 until his retirement in 2024.

The role exists to enable others to flourish in their various ministries, and will involve Mo liaising with colleagues in safeguarding, clergy development and training, and more.

Named Mona-Karina, combining the names of her two grandmothers, but generally called Mo or Mona, she lives in North Yorkshire where most recently she has run a busy psychotherapy practice.

Mo looks forward to starting work in January 2025: “I do hope that in time I will have opportunity to meet many of those already offering so much in service within the Diocese, and in dialogue find meaningful, pragmatic and hopeful ways to best support them in my capacity as Diocesan Adviser in Pastoral Care.”
