New Resource for Collective Worship Leaders in Schools

Following the Rhythm of Life.

Our latest resource following the Rhythm of Life has been published today.

The Rhythm of Life, launched in 2023, is a creative and flexible framework for discipleship. Shaped around 7 things that help to live in a Christ-like way, the Rhythm of Life encourages us in being rooted in prayer and shaped by scripture, as well as in being an active part in the lives of our worshipping communities. Reflecting baptismal promises, the Rhythm of Life also deepens our approach in how we love one another, live generously, share faith with others, and have regular patterns of rest. This set of practices help us all in deepening our faith, and in how we live Christ’s story in today’s world.

As the diocese seeks to embed the Rhythm of Life across all our churches, schools, and communities, today sees the launch of the latest resource in the collection. The resource is aimed at anyone who works with Primary Schools, particularly those who lead assemblies or Collective Worship.

The Collective Worship series guides leaders over five sessions, working with children in school settings to think about what the Rhythm of Life means for them. Each session follows a simple framework of Gather, Engage, Respond, and Send, with enough flexibility to allow for local adaptation.

Olivia Seymour, Diocesan Assistant Director of Education, said: “I am delighted that these resources have been developed to support the important work our parishes do in serving their local schools.  Spiritual development is central to flourishing in our school communities and the Rhythm of Life resource makes an important contribution to exploring this. “

Sammi Tooze, Diocesan Discipleship Adviser added: “It has been wonderful watching how the Rhythm of Life has grown across our diocese over eighteen months, especially in how it is helping to shape a culture of everyday faith. We learn so much about faith from and with children and observe joy as faith is grown in those early stages of life.

“I’m so pleased to see this new resource ready to be shared across our church and school communities, with deep gratitude to all who have contributed to writing it, as we seek to embed the Rhythm of Life more deeply as part of our shared culture of discipleship.”

The resource is available to download as a PDF from the Rhythm of Life resource pages linked below.
