Three of our parishes Flamborough, Bempton, Speeton with Reighton have recently joined with Sewerby enabling us to appoint a full time post to oversee our new benefice.

We have already begun this shared journey together. The vacancy is building on our strengths whilst demonstrating that the future will mean change that we are ready to embrace.

The person we are seeking to lead us into this new chapter, helping us to discern what our aspirations mean in practice will:-

  • Enjoy rural life and have a vision for sharing the gospel here
  • Understand village churches and have ideas on how to help us grow
  • Energise and inspire us with their own life of prayer and faith
  • Be naturally collaborative and enjoy having colleagues in ministry
  • Value working across a whole range of ages and have a heart for schools
  • Cheerfully engage in village life, being a recognisable presence in our  communities

We don’t expect our Vicar to do everything as we recognise and understand the demands of ministry across our benefice. A committed team of lay leaders, ministers and retired clergy are looking forward to working with you. A spacious modern vicarage in Flamborough within walking distance of the sea, church and school will be a good place to call home.

We will pray for you, support you practically and enjoy sharing in ministry with you. We welcome you to our benefice on some of the most beautiful coastline in Yorkshire!

The Diocese of York is is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.  Find out more here:  Safeguarding in the Diocese of York

Appointment is subject to pre-appointment checks including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure. Under current immigration rules, it is not possible for us to appoint clergy who are not already eligible to work in the UK.
