We are leading a pilgrimage to Taizé 19th-27th July 2025 for young adults, aged 18-30, as part of wider diocesan work on pilgrimage. We will be joining with our friends from the Diocese of Leeds and the Diocese of Bath and Wells, and it is hoped that Archbishop Stephen may join us for some of the week.
Taizé is an inspirational place of pilgrimage. Its vocation to offer its life particularly to people under 30 gathers people from across the world every week of the year. Simplicity and joy of heart define Taizé, and it has been a place where many have found or deepened their faith, their life of prayer, emersed in a daily rhythm with God which many then take home with them.
We have produced a booklet which provides an invitation and basic information about the pilgrimage, which you can download at the bottom of this page. You may want to come on your own or with a group of friends. We will travel together from York as part of the pilgrimage, getting to know one another and growing together as a community of fellow pilgrims.
If you have never experienced Taizé before, we have some opportunities to experience prayer in the style of Taizé which all are welcome to attend:
- Wednesday 26th March, 7pm, Heslington Church York
- Friday 11th April, 7.30pm, St Luke’s Church York
We hope that you will join us on our shared pilgrimage. Taizé itself as a place, a community and a space of worship is a wonderful experience for us all. If you are aged 18-30 and would like to join us, please contact Sammi Tooze, Diocesan Discipleship Adviser, to book your place. You will be sent a registration form to gather your details, and your place will be confirmed once we have received your payment. A pilgrim guide with further details will be shared nearer the time.
The closing date for bookings is Sunday 8th June.
