Glebe

Glebe is the land and property that are still owned and managed by the Diocese.

Glebe was historically land given to the church to generate income to pay stipends (clergy salaries) and, as an endowment fund (i.e. the capital must be preserved).

It is ringfenced and continues to be used for that purpose today.

The diocese employs professional land agents to look after our interests on a day-to-day basis. The Property Committee have the final responsibility for it.

If you have any queries, please contact Bevil Edwards (Senior Glebe, Property and Trusts Officer) at the Diocesan Office.
